The story of the massively overspent Bermuda Bridge project has been going on for a decade. The project was originally estimated to cost around £3.7 million but now has an estimated final cost of £16 million.
Details are now emerging of an even bigger fiasco from the Conservative -controlled County Council with a currently unusable “bridge” over the A46. An upgraded junction for Kenilworth and University of Warwick had been expected to cost around £38 million and open in 2022. The project has gone badly, with works halted and the bridge left unconnected above the dual carriageway. The cost over-run was being kept secret but was accidently disclosed in a public meeting as being £16 million, that implies a final cost of around £54m
